Building a Permanent Place for Prayer

This project began with a simple act of faith. Decades ago, a small group of Muslims in the British Virgin Islands gathered for Friday prayer in a private home opened by Ali Tarabay (“Mr. Ali”). That space became the first place of worship for our community—our first mosque. Over time, that small gathering grew into a diverse and close-knit community, united by faith, respect, and a strong sense of brotherhood. As the community expanded, so did the need for space, leading to years of moving between temporary rented locations—each one serving as a mosque for a time, but never truly a permanent place of our own. Today, our community has outgrown those temporary spaces. This project represents a long-awaited step forward: building a permanent place for prayer, belonging, and continuity. A space that honors where we began, and serves future generations.
